District Office – Anantapur

INTRODUCTION:

The office of the Asst. Director of Mines & Geology, Anantapuramu has been established w.e.f. 09-03-1977 assigning Mineral Regulatory Work.  Further in view of Re-organisation of DEPARTMENT OF MINES AND GEOLOGY, a new office of Asst. Director of Mines & Geology has been established w.e.f. 01.04.2003 at Tadipatri with jurisdiction over 9 Mandals vide G.O.Ms. No: 31 Ind. & Comm. (M.I) Dept., dt: 15-02-2003 and also one more office of Asst. Director of Mines and Geology (Vigilance), has been established w.e.f. 19-12-2007 at Gooty to curb the illegal transportation and illicit mining / quarrying in the district.  As such three offices are functioning in the District.

Anantapuramu District is endowed with important Mineral Deposits like Gold, Diamond, Limestone, Steatite, Dolomite, Iron Ore, Quartz and Granite useful as Dimensional stone of Black & Multi-Colour varieties.  Gold occurs in Ramagiri Mandal associated with White to Bluish Quartz veins in Dharmavaram Schist.  The Ore shoots occur in the linear belt striking North-South over a length of about 11 Kms with an average width of about 1.5 Km.  Diamonds occur in Kimberlite pipes of Vajrakarur Lattavaram belt.  As per the records six Kimberlite pipes have been recognized as an intrusive into Granite and Gneisses.  The Black, Pink and other Multi-Colored varieties of Granite available in the District are used in Cutting & Polishing Industries and as decorative dimensional stone in the form of Cubes & Kerbs.  Iron Ore occurs in Rayadurg area.  In view of the demand the Iron Ore available in the District besides being exported from different ports to China and Japan is being consumed in the indigenous industries.

FUNCTIONS:

  1. Receive, Process and recommend RP, PL, ML, application (Major Minerals) to the Director of Mines & Geology, Hyderabad.
  2. Receive, process and recommend of Quarry Lease applications other than Granite & Granite applications (Minor Minerals) to the Deputy Director of Mines & Geology, Kurnool and the Director of Mines & Geology, Hyderabad respectively.
  3. Issue of transport and dispatch permits / way bills.
  4. Finalization of Minerals Revenue Assessments.
  5. Collection of Mineral Revenue on Major & Minor Minerals.
  6. Checking of Mineral Transportation of Major& Minor Minerals.
  7. Inspection of Mines & Quarries and applied areas in respect of Major & Minor Minerals.
  8. Field Investigation works etc.
  9. Issuing of Transit Passes to a Mineral Dealers/ Traders / Lessees, etc. from 01-11-2005 as per the Director of Mines & Geology’s circular Memo No.20728/P.II/2005, dated: 18-10-2005, in terms of the G.O.Ms.No.279, Inds. & Comm. Dept., dated: 14-10-2005.
  10.  Right to Information Act, 2005.

This office was located in a rented building bearing No: 6-2-97/C, Kovur Nagar, 1st Cross, Near Vidyaranya School, Anantapuramu with a monthly rent @ of Rs. 9,058/- w.e.f. MARCH-2011 to till date.

No amounts were allotted under the Plan & Non-Plan in Sub-Heads 010-Salaries, 012-Allowance, 013-DA, 016 and 018 during the year 2012-13.

108 bills were prepared and presented to the District Treasury Officer, Anantapuramu for both Plan and Non-Plan during the year 2012-2013.

CORRESPONDANCE:

6879 currents have been received and 4295 letters have been dispatched during the year under report.   Special care is being taken to implement Telugu such as Major and Minor permit forms, inspection and survey intimation letters etc.

MINERAL REGULATORY WORK:

Iron Ore, Dolomite, Steatite, Quartz, Feldspar W. Shales & Pyrophyllite are the important Major Minerals, Road Metal & Building Stones, Colour Granite & Black Granite and Cubes & Kerbs are the important Minor Minerals available in the jurisdiction of O/o the Asst. Director of Mines & Geology, Anantapuramu-I.  The jurisdiction of this office has been restricted to 54 Mandals, [Except 1) Tadipatri 2)Yadiki, 3) Gooty, 4) Peddavadugur, 5) Peddapappur, 6) Putlur, 7)Yellanur, 8) Singanamala and 9) Tadimarri].  This office was started and functioning from 09-03-1977.

The relevant information regarding the leases in force, applications received and disposed and Mineral Revenue Collections in respect of Major and Minor Minerals are submitted hereunder.
